More than 200 CareLink staff members, participants, and Board members gathered at Ridley Creek State Park on Friday, May 15, for the agency’s highly anticipated annual Mental Health Awareness Celebration. The event, designed to raise awareness about mental health while fostering a sense of community and support, was a joyous affair, featuring food, carnival games, basketball, themed raffle baskets, a live DJ, dancing, and more. May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, a national observance established in 1949 to shine a light on mental health, challenge stigma, and encourage people to seek support when they need it. Mental health conditions remain common across the United States. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 23.1% of U.S. adults—nearly 1 in 4—experienced a mental illness in 2022, the most recent year with comprehensive national data.
